MHEC is Hiring: Director Policy Initiatives
The Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) is seeking a dynamic leader for the role of director of policy initiatives. This position will support MHEC’s mission to strengthen postsecondary education across its twelve member states through the development and support of best practices, collaborative efforts, and cost-sharing opportunities. The ideal candidate will possess a master’s or professional degree in fields such as public policy or higher education administration, and have at least seven years of senior-level experience in higher education or nonprofit administration.
Reporting to the vice president for policy and research, the director will lead MHEC’s strategic initiatives, focusing on innovation, collaboration, and cost savings. Key responsibilities include maintaining and enhancing existing programs, initiating new policy projects, managing budgets and timelines, and engaging with stakeholders. The role requires excellent communication and project management skills, a strong understanding of higher education administration, and the ability to conceptualize and secure funding for new initiatives.
