From Apprenticeship to Degree: Building Stackable College Pathways for Michigan’s Workforce

October 28, 2026 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

CT

How can states better recognize the rigorous learning that happens through registered apprenticeships and turn that learning into meaningful progress toward a college degree? Join MHEC and the Michigan Community College Association for a look at Michigan’s approach to connecting apprenticeship training with higher education. Through the Michigan College Credit for Apprenticeships Program, community colleges, state agencies, labor partners, and the American Council on Education are working together to evaluate apprenticeship programs, award college credit, and create clearer pathways to associate degrees. Learn about the partnerships and early progress behind this work and how Michigan is building on the model to create more connected, stackable pathways from apprenticeship to associate and bachelor’s degrees.
