Dirk Huggett Honored with MHEC Outstanding Service Award

Dirk Huggett, assistant chief information officer for the North Dakota University System, received the Outstanding Service Award from the Midwestern Higher Education Compact (MHEC) during MHEC’s annual meeting in Kansas November 18-20. Huggett was recognized at an event at the Dole Institute of Politics on the campus of the University of Kansas.

Huggett was nominated for his leadership in MHEC’s Technologies Community since 2015. He began representing North Dakota on the Technologies Executive Committee in 2018 and has been chairing the committee for the last two years. He has contributed to MHEC’s contracts related to software, IT security services, and enterprise resource planning. He also oversaw the creation of two publications addressing critical IT challenges.

“Dirk fosters innovation, mentors others, and expands MHEC’s influence within higher education technology,” said Susan Heegaard, MHEC president. “We appreciate his work to facilitate greater engagement that continues to bring together diverse and valuable IT experts.”

In accepting his award, Huggett said, “Being part of the Technologies Community enriches me and my organization and enables strategic-level conversations that benefit all institutions in our system. It has fostered trusted relationships, turning colleagues into true friends who can provide valuable, honest feedback when needed.”

Huggett has been with NDUS since 2014.
